What is the shelf life of synthetic engine oil?

Synthetic engine oil has a shelf life of 5 years. Engine oils are categorized into: mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, and full synthetic oil. The method for adding engine oil is: 1. Lift the car, remove the protective plate, and place a container of about 10 liters under the oil drain screw; 2. Unscrew the oil drain screw, use an air gun to blow for two minutes at the oil filler port, after draining, tighten the oil drain screw and wipe it with a tissue to check for leaks; 3. Reinstall the protective plate and lower the car, use a funnel to align with the oil filler port to add engine oil. The functions of engine oil are: lubrication, auxiliary cooling, cleaning, sealing and leak prevention, rust and corrosion prevention, shock absorption, and anti-wear.
The shelf life of synthetic motor oil is generally three to five years when unopened, and it's best to use it within six months to a year after opening. I've been driving for many years, and I remember once buying a bottle of synthetic oil but forgetting to use it. After leaving it in the garage for two years, I opened it and noticed the color had darkened and the smell had changed. A test confirmed the viscosity had indeed dropped. I immediately threw it away without using it. A friend told me that expired oil lacks sufficient lubricity and can damage the engine, especially increasing wear during high-speed operation. Since then, I've developed a habit of checking the production date when buying oil, labeling it with a small sticker, storing it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, and checking my car's oil every quarter to ensure timely replacement.
