Magotan keyless entry is preset with the original smart key at the factory, requiring no additional setup. Taking the 2020 Magotan as an example, it is a mid-size sedan with dimensions of 4865mm in length, 1832mm in width, and 1471mm in height, a wheelbase of 2871mm, and a curb weight of 1445kg. The 2020 Magotan features a front MacPherson strut suspension and a rear multi-link independent suspension. It is equipped with a 1.4L turbocharged engine delivering a maximum horsepower of 150PS, a maximum power of 110kW, and a peak torque of 250Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

I just picked up a Magotan 380 Luxury Edition, and I don’t even need to take out the key before getting in the car. As long as the key is in my pocket near the driver’s seat, I just need to insert my finger into the sensing area inside the door handle. The system detects the authorized key and automatically unlocks the door—the whole process of opening the door is seamless. It’s even simpler when getting out of the car: just lightly touch the square indentation on the door handle, and the side mirrors will automatically fold while the turn signals blink twice to confirm successful locking. Remember to keep an eye on the battery indicator—when the dashboard shows a low key battery warning, it’s time to replace the coin cell battery, or else the sensing range may be affected. After using it in the rain, wiping the sensor area on the handle dry can prevent accidental triggers. The biggest convenience of this feature is when carrying a child or shopping bags, as it completely eliminates the need to fumble for the key.

Last week, I taught my wife how to use the keyless function of our new Magotan. Simply put, it's 'unlock by approaching, lock with a touch.' When you're within one meter of the car with the key, just insert your hand into the driver's door handle, and the door will open instantly. Locking is even simpler—no need to press any buttons; just tap the textured indentation on the outer side of the door handle with your fingertip, and you'll hear the locking sound. I emphasized two key points to her: first, never stack the key with a phone, as electromagnetic interference can cause it to malfunction; second, always check if the side mirrors are folded and if the anti-theft indicator light is flashing after locking. Once, it failed in an underground mall parking lot, and I realized a nearby power distribution box was causing interference—moving to a different spot fixed the issue. The key battery typically needs replacement every two years, and you can easily replace it yourself with a CR2032 battery.

The keyless entry system for the Magotan doesn't really require any setup steps; it's pre-configured at the factory. In daily use, simply approach the driver's door with the key, and the car will automatically unlock as soon as you touch the door handle. To lock the car, just tap the small horizontal strip on the outer side of the door handle with your index finger—you'll feel a vibration feedback. It's best to enable the lock confirmation sound in the settings menu, so you hear a 'beep' every time the car locks. Note that wearing thick gloves in winter may cause the sensor to respond more slowly. If the key battery is low, a warning icon will appear on the dashboard. The manual states an effective range of up to 1.5 meters, but this can be halved if obstructed by metal objects. This feature is especially practical when paired with the power tailgate—you can open the trunk with a foot swipe without having to fumble for the key.
