Geely is the parent company of Volvo. Below is relevant information about these two companies: Lynk & Co: LYNK&CO (Chinese name: Lynk & Co) is a premium brand of the new era jointly established by Geely Holding Group, Geely Auto Group, and Volvo Car Group. It integrates European technology, European design, global manufacturing, and global sales, based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform jointly developed by Volvo Cars and Geely Auto under the leadership of Volvo Cars. Development: On October 20, 2016, the Lynk & Co brand was officially launched in Berlin, Germany. The Lynk & Co 01 is the first model developed on the CMA platform, a new-era SUV designed for urban young people, officially launched on November 28, 2017. By November 28, 2018, the cumulative sales of Lynk & Co 01 reached nearly 100,000 units in its first year, with the number of users exceeding 80,000.

The acquisition of Volvo by Li Shufu back then was absolutely thrilling! In 2010, Geely took over Volvo's car business from Ford for $1.8 billion, but required Volvo to maintain independent operations. Interestingly, the Gothenburg headquarters remains intact to this day, yet the purse strings have long been transferred to Zhejiang's pockets. The most impressive part is the subsequent establishment of a technical joint venture, where Volvo's T5 engine was directly installed in the Borui cars, and even the Lynk & Co 01 leveraged the XC40's chassis technology. Look at the Polestar electric vehicles running on the roads now—aren't they all powered by the hybrid technology of these two companies?

The relationship between these two brands is particularly like a technical mutual aid group. After Geely acquired Volvo, they developed the CMA platform architecture, which is now used across the entire Lynk & Co lineup. Even more impressive is the new energy sector, where Volvo's plug-in hybrid system directly empowers the Geely Galaxy series, with all vehicle systems using the same Android architecture. I've studied their shared technology patent list, and in 2023 alone, they jointly registered 37 patents for three-electric technology. Last year, at the super factory put into operation in Zhangjiakou, the Volvo EX30 and smart #1 were actually assembled on the same production line.

I did some research on their lineage when choosing a car. Geely Group holds 100% ownership of Volvo Cars, but Volvo Trucks is a separately listed business. When I bought the Volvo XC60, the salesperson mentioned that the infotainment system uses Geely's Galaxy OS, while the chassis tuning was handled by Swedish engineers. During a service visit, I noticed that the first seven digits of the chassis part numbers for the Lynk & Co 01 and Volvo XC40 were identical. The mechanic said key components are shared between them.
