What is the reason why the rear light stays on and cannot be turned off?

If the light does not turn off when set to OFF, it indicates a malfunction with the car's rear interior light. Possible causes include a damaged switch or wiring issues, and it is recommended to have it inspected at a 4S shop. Normally, you can set the rear light to DOOR mode, which will turn on when the door is opened and off when the door is closed, making it more convenient without the need for constant adjustment. Additional tip: If you need lighting in the car, you can switch to ON mode as needed, and switch back to DOOR mode when not in use. However, in this mode, the light may take about 30 seconds to turn off after the door is closed.
I've encountered this issue before where the rear seat light in my car stayed on and wouldn't turn off, which was quite frustrating. Later, I learned that the most common reason is the dome light switch being set to the always-on position—that little toggle near the manual gearshift. Accidentally bumping it can keep the light illuminated. Another possibility is that a door isn't fully closed, even if it appears shut. It could be due to a faulty or stuck door lock sensor, making the system think the door is still open, thus keeping the light on. In my case, it was a rusty left rear door lock sensor causing a false signal. A short circuit in the wiring, such as from aged or water-damaged trunk wiring, could also trigger this. Leaving it unresolved for too long can drain the battery, so it's important to address it promptly. The simplest solution is to first check and reclose all doors. If that doesn't work, take it to a repair shop to inspect the sensors and switches.
