What is the reason why the Encore trunk cannot be opened?

Encore trunk can only be opened normally when the engine is off and in P gear. Method to fix the trunk lock core: First, remove the interior trim panel of the trunk. The interior trim panel is fixed by clips, which can be released. Then, remove the screws and clips on the back of the rear tailgate body. Remove the two central fixing screws and clips. After releasing the fixing method of the rear tailgate switch trim panel, you can see that the switch core body is disconnected, causing the buckle switch handle to fail to open the trunk. Just install and fix the switch core body properly. Tips for unlocking the trunk: If the car door is indeed locked and the key still cannot open the trunk, it means there is a problem with the trunk door. However, don't panic, stay calm and try a few more times, because sometimes the trunk door is not properly latched, which can also cause the key unlocking to fail.
I've seen many owners complain about the Envision's trunk not opening. This is usually an issue with the electric lock, such as a burnt-out motor or poor contact, where pressing the button doesn't work. Or the locking mechanism could be jammed, rusted, or blocked by debris, especially after rain. A dead battery in the remote key is also a common reason—replacing it with a new one often solves the problem. Also, check the fuse in the fuse box under the driver's seat; if it's blown, replace it with the same type. Loose or corroded wiring harness connectors can also interrupt the signal. Faults in control modules like the ECU are more troublesome and require computer diagnostics. Avoid forcing the trunk open, as it can damage the seals and paint. Regularly spraying some anti-rust oil on the lock mechanism can reduce failures. If you encounter any issues, it's best to visit a repair shop promptly to avoid disrupting daily use.
