What is the reason for the Jetta VS5 recall?

Within the scope of this recall, some vehicles may have fuel pumps with burrs remaining on the lower housing of the pump core due to manufacturing reasons by the supplier. The residual burrs may detach and cause difficulty in the rotation of the impeller, leading to poor fuel pump performance. In extreme cases, this may result in the vehicle failing to start or stalling while driving, posing a safety hazard. The supplier has optimized the process for removing burrs at the fuel inlet of the fuel pump's lower housing and added a dedicated visual inspection step, conducting 200% inspection to ensure that the fuel pumps produced after the process optimization are free of residual burrs.
