The fuel consumption of the 2021 XC60 is around 9L per 100 kilometers. In terms of powertrain: The new car is equipped with a 2.0T high and low power version engine, both featuring a 48V mild hybrid system. The B4 powertrain delivers a maximum power of 145kW and a maximum torque of 300Nm, while the B5 powertrain offers a maximum power of 184kW and a maximum torque of 350Nm. In terms of safety: The new XC60 comes standard with a 29% high-strength boron steel body, dual front airbags, driver knee airbag, front side airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags. When a collision is imminent, Volvo's patented WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System) for the front seats effectively protects the head and neck of the occupants, minimizing collision injuries as much as possible.

After driving the 2021 XC60 T5 gasoline version for over two years, the real-world urban commuting fuel consumption ranges from 11 to 13 liters per 100 kilometers, soaring to 15 liters in traffic jams, while dropping to 7-8 liters during highway cruising. The overall average is around 10.5 liters. The official claim is 9-10 liters combined, but in reality, it's slightly higher, largely depending on driving habits. With smooth acceleration and minimal hard braking, I can save about half a liter. Cold weather or using the AC also slightly increases fuel consumption, and low tire pressure affects it too—once when my tire pressure was low, consumption rose to 12 liters. Regular maintenance helps; after changing the engine oil and spark plugs, it stabilized at 10 liters. Among SUVs in its class, it's not the most fuel-efficient, but it's reliable and durable, making it a great choice for long trips.

I'm particularly concerned about fuel efficiency and environmental protection, so I chose the T6 hybrid version of the 2021 XC60. The actual fuel consumption is between 6 to 7 liters per 100 kilometers. In electric mode for commuting, it can run nearly 40 kilometers with zero fuel consumption, and it's stable even in traffic jams. If charging is convenient, plugging it in every night and driving off with a full charge in the morning means only spending a few dozen yuan on electricity for the whole month. On the highway in hybrid mode, fuel consumption rises to 8 liters, but regenerative braking helps a lot with energy recovery. With air conditioning on or fully loaded with luggage, fuel consumption slightly increases to 7.5 liters, which is slightly better than the official figures—they claim 7 to 8 liters in the city, but I can keep it down to 6.5 liters. Driving smoothly and avoiding heavy acceleration saves a lot on monthly fuel costs, making it quite suitable for commuters.

Frequently taking self-driving trips with the 2021 XC60 gasoline version, the highway fuel consumption is really impressive, basically stable at 7 to 8 liters per 100 kilometers, and doesn't exceed 8.5 liters even when fully loaded with luggage or large items. Back in the city, it jumps to 10 to 11 liters when stuck in traffic, with an overall average of around 9 liters. The fuel consumption has been measured several times, and the data is reliable. The engine is dependable, and the fuel consumption is at its lowest, about 7 liters, when cruising on the highway at speeds of 90 to 100 kilometers per hour. It handles smooth road conditions with ease, and even on steep slopes, the fuel consumption only slightly increases to 8.5 liters, which is no issue.
