The Magotan GTE has a pure electric range of 56 kilometers. The Magotan GTE is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, which differs from conventional hybrid vehicles. Plug-in hybrid vehicles can charge their batteries using an external power source. These cars have a longer range in pure electric mode and offer better fuel economy. On December 18, 2019, the FAW-Volkswagen New Magotan family was officially launched. Compared to the New Magotan, the New Magotan GTE has some differences in details. In addition to the blue paint, it features C-shaped daytime running lights on the front bumper, a charging port on the front grille, and GTE-specific badges around the body.

Let me share my experience driving the Magotan GTE. This car is a plug-in hybrid version, with two types of range: pure electric and total range. The official WLTP pure electric range is over 60 kilometers, which is more than enough for my daily 20-kilometer commute in the city, so I hardly use any fuel. With a full tank of gas and a full charge, the total range can reach 900 to 1,000 kilometers, making long-distance highway trips very convenient. I remember one road trip where I drove 850 kilometers on just one tank of gas—it was incredibly cost-effective. The battery range can be affected by temperature, dropping to under 50 kilometers in winter, but charging is faster in summer, making it quite comfortable to use. Charging stations are easy to find in daily use, and the hybrid mode is also convenient. I chose this car for its cost savings and eco-friendliness, and after a year of driving, I haven’t encountered any major issues. If you’re a new driver, I recommend regular battery checks to maintain stable range performance.

The Passat GTE's range is truly impressive. The pure electric range can actually exceed 60 kilometers in real-world tests. I just need to charge it overnight at the company charging station, saving a lot on fuel costs. The hybrid system allows the total range to easily surpass 900 kilometers, several hundred kilometers more than a regular gasoline car. For urban commuting, it's almost entirely electric, resulting in significant fuel savings over a month, and it's also very stable on long-distance highway drives. However, it's important to note that the battery's range may slightly decrease as it ages, so driving gently helps conserve energy. With more and more urban charging stations available now, driving this car means fewer trips to the gas station, making it both convenient and economical.

From a technical perspective, the Magotan GTE's range features a hybrid system capable of approximately 60 km on pure electric power, supported by a 13kWh lithium-ion battery. The total combined range exceeds 900 km with efficient engine assistance. For daily use, short trips are sufficiently covered by electric power alone, while long-distance driving benefits from seamless switching. Charging is quick, completing in just a few hours. Driving habits significantly impact efficiency; gentle driving maximizes electric usage for extended range.
