There are currently 15 models of the BYD Han available for sale. Among them, the 2022 DM-i Honor/Luxury models have a range of 121 km, the 2022 DM-p 202KM AWD Flagship model has a range of 202 km, the 2022 DM-i 242KM model has a range of 242 km, the 2021 EV Standard Range Luxury model has a range of 506 km, the 2020 EV Extended Range Luxury model has a range of 605 km, the 2020 DM AWD Performance Premium/Luxury models have a range of 81 km, and the 2020 EV Extended Range Premium model has a range of 605 km. The above ranges are based on a full charge and are NEDC officially published data. During daily driving, the current range of the BYD Han can be viewed on the instrument display panel. The range is directly related to the three key systems of an electric vehicle: the battery, electric drive, and electric control. Battery System: The capacity of the power battery directly determines the range. Additionally, excessively high or low temperatures in the battery system can also affect the range. With the same battery capacity, more stable battery temperatures better ensure the range. Electric Drive System: This mainly includes the drive motor, controller, inverter, and reducer. Its efficiency is determined by the ratio of input power to output power. When the battery capacity is fixed, under the same voltage, the output energy is determined by the efficiency of the drive system. Automakers strive to optimize motor and control efficiency to reduce energy consumption and improve range. Vehicle Control System: This primarily coordinates the relationship between the battery, drive system, and chassis brake energy recovery. Under conditions of frequent acceleration and deceleration, the proportion of energy recovery (brake energy recovery) can be dynamically adjusted based on the battery's state and braking needs, thereby improving energy efficiency. In addition, the braking energy recovery strategy of an electric vehicle can directly increase the vehicle's driving range.
As a BYD Han EV owner for nearly a year, I find its range performance quite reliable in personal experience. Official data shows a range between 506 to 715 km depending on versions, with my long-range version rated at 605 km CLTC. For urban commuting, a single charge lasts about a week, covering approximately 450-550 km; on highways with strong AC usage, it drops to around 400 km. In cold winters, range decreases faster, possibly by 10%-15%, but returns to normal in summer. I recommend smooth acceleration and proper use of regenerative braking for better range durability. For occasional long trips, charging stations along the route are conveniently planned, making it more than sufficient for commuters like me. EVs save significantly compared to fuel cars, with monthly charging costs just tens of yuan, plus the quiet and comfortable drive – I'm quite satisfied.
