What is the purpose of the hole next to the motorcycle fuel tank?

The vent hole on the motorcycle fuel tank cap serves to maintain communication between the interior of the tank and the external atmosphere. During motorcycle operation, it ensures that one atmospheric pressure consistently acts on the fuel surface, guaranteeing smooth fuel delivery from the tank. If this hole becomes blocked, it can lead to fuel starvation and engine stalling while riding. Air filter connection: Even if the air filter's inlet is blocked, there are at least three other air intake points: one is the atmospheric balance hole leading to the oil reservoir, another is the bottom drain hole (which internally serves as a filtered overflow outlet), and the third is the throttle cable installation hole. This opening connects through the throttle body and isn't completely sealed. The adjustment screw at the throttle body isn't airtight either, and if there's a manual choke, none of the through-shafts are fully sealed. Important notes: If you manually block the air filter intake and start the engine, not only will it not completely prevent air intake, but it may also cause gasoline to be sucked back into your palm. This method is commonly used to enrich the fuel mixture for easier starting, particularly when dealing with carburetors that have an excessively lean mixture.
