What is the purpose of an oil cooler?

The function of an oil cooler is to cool the lubricating oil and maintain its temperature within the normal operating range. In high-power reinforced engines, due to the substantial thermal load during operation, the viscosity of the engine oil decreases as the temperature rises, thereby reducing its lubricating capability. Hence, it is essential to install an oil cooler. When the engine is running, the oil forms a thin film on the surfaces of various components inside the engine, preventing direct contact and friction between them. If the engine components were to come into direct contact and generate friction, it would instantaneously produce a significant amount of heat. Excessive engine temperature can adversely affect the engine's normal operation.
