What is the purpose of a motorcycle tachometer?

The tachometer on a motorcycle is used when adjusting the idle speed. RPM and gear shifting: After the vehicle starts, when the speed reaches 20 km/h and the RPM is around 1500-2000, shift to 2nd gear. When the RPM exceeds 2000, shift to 3rd gear, which is equivalent to about 30 km/h. Shift to 4th gear when the speed reaches 50 km/h. Given the power demand, the higher the efficiency of the powertrain at that moment, the lower the fuel consumption will be, so you only need to observe the efficiency of the powertrain. Pay attention to controlling RPM: For engine break-in and maintenance, it is essential to use high-quality lubricating oil. Additionally, various operations such as accelerating, starting, shifting gears, and braking should be performed slowly and gently. Finally, keep the engine RPM between 2000-3000 rpm (for gasoline engines). For automatic transmissions, it is best to keep it below 3000 rpm. If the engine RPM is too high, it may cause damage to some components, while too low RPM with too high a gear can lead to component wear.
