Go to the vehicle inspection station at the DMV to inspect the vehicle and pre-record information. File the color change at the DMV within ten days, bringing the green book, vehicle license, ID card, and invoice for painting or wrapping. Carry the relevant documents to the DMV and find the relevant personnel to complete the process.

When I customized the decals on my motorcycle, I made several trips to the DMV for registration. The process was actually quite simple. First, prepare the required materials: original ID card and its photocopy, vehicle license, and registration certificate. It's advisable to wash the motorcycle beforehand and take full-body photos of the modified bike to speed up the inspection. Drive to the local DMV, queue up to get a number, and fill out a vehicle modification registration application form. The staff will check if the decals comply with regulations—for instance, they must not obscure the license plate, turn signals, or affect reflectivity, and their size must not exceed limits. After passing the inspection, pay a small fee of a few dozen yuan, and wait for the new vehicle license to be printed. The whole process takes half a day at most. The key is not to skip registration—otherwise, getting caught on the road could mean fines, points deducted, or even forced restoration of modifications. Once registered, annual inspections will be hassle-free, and insurance claims will go smoother. Remember to go on a weekday morning when it's less crowded to save time and effort.
