Automotive carbon canister principle: The fuel tank of a car is used in conjunction with a carbon canister to form a fully sealed fuel tank. When the vehicle is stationary, the fuel inside the tank volatilizes due to its own properties, and the vapor enters the evaporation zone of the carbon canister through pipes, where it is immediately adsorbed by activated carbon, condensed, and reduced back into liquid fuel. Any excess gas is then discharged through the vent. The carbon canister is essentially a container filled with activated carbon, serving as a device to collect gasoline vapors for secondary use. It is typically installed between the fuel tank and the engine. Since gasoline is a highly volatile liquid, the fuel tank often contains fuel vapors at normal temperatures. The function of the fuel evaporation emission control system is to direct these vapors into the combustion process and prevent them from being released into the atmosphere.
