ottimo refers to the Fiat Ottimo, a model under the Fiat brand. Below is an introduction to the Fiat Ottimo: 1. Interior: It adopts the design of the Fiat Viaggio, with no significant highlights in terms of styling and color schemes, except for slight changes in the seat design. The test drive model mainly features a dark upper and light lower color scheme, with the dashboard made of a combination of soft and hard materials, showcasing excellent craftsmanship. The car has a considerable number of storage compartments, and the trunk space is larger than expected, very flat. However, when the rear seats are folded down, they do not form a completely flat cargo platform, leaving a slope. 2. Engine: The entire series is equipped with a 1.4T engine, and the high-end models also feature a high-power version. In terms of transmission, the Ottimo has one more gear than the Viaggio, replacing the 6-speed dual-clutch with a 7-speed dual-clutch. This transmission addresses two issues present in the Viaggio: firstly, the shift speed has been improved, and secondly, the shift smoothness has been significantly enhanced.

I've been driving the Ottimo Viaggio for two years, and this compact hatchback from GAC Fiat has brought me quite a few surprises in my daily commute. The body lines are exceptionally smooth, and I particularly love its hatchback design, which handles grocery runs and carrying friends with ease. The 1.4T engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers fuel consumption under 8L/100km in the city, and it's powerful enough for highway overtaking. However, I should mention that the transmission occasionally jerks at low speeds, and I later heard other owners reporting similar issues. The space is quite practical, with foldable rear seats for luggage, though the trunk opening is a bit high. Unfortunately, after Fiat exited the Chinese market, parts have to be sourced from overseas—it took three weeks to replace a sensor last time. If you're buying a used one now, a high-spec version can be had for around 30,000 to 40,000 RMB, but be sure to check the transmission records beforehand.

The Fiat Ottimo is quite common in the used car market, given that its new car price was only around 120,000 yuan back then. I've handled over twenty of these cars and noticed that young people particularly love its sporty front fascia and red brake calipers. The engine bay layout is almost identical to its platform sibling, the Fiat Viaggio, so parts are interchangeable during repairs. In actual driving, the chassis tuning leans toward firmness, offering better cornering support than Japanese cars, though the drawback is its non-independent rear suspension, which makes bumpy roads noticeably uncomfortable. Pay special attention to the 2014 dual-clutch transmission models, as some develop high mechatronic unit failure rates after 100,000 km. For maintenance now, third-party specialist shops are recommended since official 4S dealerships have largely withdrawn. As for pricing, a five-year-old automatic transmission model goes for about 30,000 yuan - 20,000 cheaper than a same-year Golf, offering decent value but requiring acceptance of its niche brand status.

The Ottimo is a hatchback launched by GAC Fiat in 2014, positioned similarly to the Volkswagen Golf. The entire lineup uses a 1.4T engine, with the manual transmission version being more reliable, while the automatic transmission equipped with a dry dual-clutch had more issues in later stages. Back then, I saw the top trim in the showroom, and features like heated leather seats and automatic air conditioning were quite generous. The car is about 4.5 meters long with a 2.63-meter wheelbase, which is average for a compact car (A-segment), and the rear seats are a bit cramped for three people. What impressed me the most was the standard ESP and six airbags across the lineup, making its safety features stronger than Japanese competitors at the time. Unfortunately, it received a lukewarm market response, and due to Fiat's brand management issues, production was discontinued in 2018. In the used car market, it's advisable to prioritize manual transmission models, as they have much lower maintenance costs.

Last year, I researched the Ottimo when helping a friend find a used commuter car. This model is called Ottimo in Australia but carries the Fiat badge in China, sharing the same platform as the Dodge Dart. Its hatchback design is quite distinctive, especially the boomerang-shaped taillights. The powertrain is shared with the Fiat Viaggio, with the low-power version offering just 120 horsepower and the high-power version delivering 150 hp with a sport mode. Actual test results showed fuel consumption around 8.5L in city driving, dropping to 6L on highways. Used models now go for about 30,000 yuan, but watch out for two common issues: the turbo intake pipe tends to crack and leak, and the electric power steering occasionally sticks. There's decent tuning potential though—I've seen one with an ECU tune pushing 180 hp paired with lowering springs. The main problem now is that since its exit from the Chinese market, many specialized mechanics have moved on.

What surprised me most during the Ottimo test drive was its Italian-blooded tuning - the heavy steering feel was like driving an Alfa Romeo. The 1.4T engine shows noticeable turbo lag at low revs, requiring adaptation to its sudden power surge after 2500 rpm. The hatchback design offers good practicality - folded seats can accommodate a bicycle. Standard paddle shifters across all trims are quite generous, though the dual-clutch response isn't particularly fast. Safety-wise, it earned a C-NCAP five-star rating, with thicker door anti-collision beams than contemporary Japanese cars. However, the fundamental reason for its dismal sales was pricing strategy mistakes - the top trim boldly priced at 170,000 RMB directly competing with Sagitar. Nowadays, this car's street visibility is lower than Ferrari's, with used car dealers often offering as low as 28,000 RMB.

How to Install a Rear Camera for a Dash Cam?

The installation method for a rear camera of a dash cam: 1. Mount the rear camera above the center of the rear windshield; 2. Route the wiring through the trunk, along the edge of the trunk, and then install it on the license plate light cover, adjusting the angle as needed. Installing the rear camera for a dash cam requires concealing the wiring, which can be quite complex if done by oneself. Poorly routed wires may affect aesthetics, so it is recommended to seek professional installation for peace of mind. A dash cam is a device that records images, sounds, and other relevant information during vehicle operation. After installing a dash cam, it can record the entire driving process in video and audio, providing evidence in the event of a traffic accident.

What brand of tires are used on the 2017 Lavida?

The 2017 Lavida is equipped with Hankook OPTIMOk415 brand tires, with both front and rear wheels using the 205/55R16 size. Tires are often used under complex and demanding conditions, enduring various deformations, loads, and high-low temperature effects during driving. Therefore, they must possess high load-bearing performance, traction performance, and cushioning performance. At the same time, tires are also required to have high wear resistance and flex resistance, as well as low rolling resistance and heat generation. It is recommended that drivers maintain a safe distance when driving at high speeds, avoid unnecessary or frequent braking to reduce tire damage, and pay attention to the tread depth for their own safety. Tires that are nearly worn out have reduced friction with the road surface and longer braking distances, so high-speed driving should be avoided.

How to Activate the Engine Start-Stop System?

Method to activate the engine start-stop system: Locate the start-stop switch, which is typically marked with a capital letter A surrounded by arrows. Simply press the button to activate the automatic start-stop function. The engine start-stop system automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle comes to a temporary stop during driving and restarts it when it's time to move forward again. Working principle of automatic start-stop: By integrating an enhanced motor with idle start-stop capability into a conventional engine, the system completely shuts off the engine when idle stop conditions are met. When the vehicle needs to move again, the idle start-stop motor system quickly responds to the driver's command, restarting the engine instantly, thereby significantly reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

How to Perform Car Maintenance?

Car maintenance methods: 1. Pay attention to the car's dashboard while driving normally. If any warning or fault messages appear, they must be addressed and resolved promptly; 2. Regularly check the car's windshield washer fluid, antifreeze, engine oil, and gear oil, ensuring scheduled maintenance is performed at the specified intervals; 3. If the car is to go on a long-distance trip or travel far, make sure to perform pre-trip maintenance or servicing; 4. For cars that have already traveled tens of thousands of kilometers, conduct regular inspections of the tires or replace them promptly and effectively. Daily car maintenance is very important. Neglecting routine maintenance not only causes unnecessary damage to the vehicle but also jeopardizes driving safety. If daily tasks are performed carefully and diligently, not only can the vehicle be kept in like-new condition, but the technical status of all parts of the vehicle can also be monitored.

Is Replacing the Front Fender Considered a Major Repair?

Replacing the front fender is not considered a major repair. The fender is merely a body panel, part of the vehicle's exterior covering, and its replacement does not affect the overall safety or performance of the car. Major repairs in automobiles are primarily categorized into three types: engine overhaul, transmission overhaul, and chassis/suspension overhaul. The fender, also known as the wing, is divided into front and rear fenders based on its installation position, serving as a covering component for both motor and non-motor vehicles. The front fender is installed near the front wheel and must accommodate the extreme space required for the wheel's rotation and movement. Therefore, designers use wheel movement diagrams based on the selected tire model and size to verify whether the fender's design dimensions are appropriate. The rear fender does not face issues related to wheel rotation and contact, but for aerodynamic considerations, it is slightly arched and protrudes outward.
