What is the normal tire pressure range for the Emgrand GS?

The normal tire pressure range for the Emgrand GS is 2.4-2.5 bar. Due to seasonal factors, the tire pressure can be appropriately increased by 0.2 bar in winter and reduced by 0.1 bar in summer. This data is based on the international GBT2978-2008 standard. The Emgrand GS tire pressure monitoring system only alerts the driver when the tire pressure is abnormal. The driver can see the tire pressure warning indicators on the dashboard located below the front of the driver's seat. There are two indicators in total: one is the TPMS warning indicator, and the other is the abnormal tire pressure warning indicator. Both indicators are located on the dashboard below the front of the driver's seat. Generally, a tire pressure exceeding 2.8 bar is considered too high, while a tire pressure below 2.0 bar is considered too low. Hazards of overinflated tires: Reduced tire friction and adhesion, affecting braking performance; causing steering wheel vibration and deviation, reducing driving comfort; accelerating wear on the central tread of the tire, shortening tire lifespan; increased vehicle vibration, indirectly affecting the lifespan of other components; excessive stretching of tire cords, reducing tire elasticity and increasing the load on the vehicle during driving. Hazards of underinflated tires: Increased friction coefficient with the road surface, leading to higher fuel consumption; causing heavy steering and potential deviation, compromising driving safety; increased movement of tire parts, leading to abnormal heat generation due to excessive rolling; reduced functionality of cords and rubber, causing delamination or cord breakage, and excessive friction with the rim, damaging the tire bead area and causing abnormal wear; multiplied friction between the tire and the ground, rapidly increasing tire temperature, softening the tire, and drastically reducing its strength. High-speed driving under these conditions may lead to tire blowouts. If the tire pressure monitoring indicator light comes on (a yellow symbol with an irregular circle, no stamp on top, four small spikes at the bottom, and an exclamation mark inside), there are generally three possible reasons: Abnormal tire pressure: The system usually alerts when the pressure is below 1.8 bar or above 3.0 bar. In this case, the tires need to be checked and the pressure adjusted. Tire pressure monitoring not reset: After inflating the tires, if the tire pressure monitoring system is not reset in time, it will continue to display the previous data, causing the indicator light to remain on. Simply reset the tire pressure monitoring system to resolve this issue. Damaged tire pressure sensor: The tire pressure sensor, which monitors tire pressure, is installed inside the tire and connected to the tire inflation valve. If the sensor is damaged due to impact while driving, the tire pressure warning light will also illuminate. In this case, the only solution is to replace the sensor with a new one.
When I first drove the Emgrand GS, I was quite confused too. Later, I checked the manual and found that the normal tire pressure is 2.2 to 2.5 bar for the front wheels and similar for the rear wheels, usually indicated on a sticker by the door or the fuel cap. I often check it with a regular tire pressure gauge when the car is cold, as it tends to be higher when the car is warm. Last time, when the weather turned cold, I didn’t add air in time, and the tires wore out faster and consumed more fuel. Remember to spend half a minute checking before each trip—it can extend tire life by two to three years. In summer, you can keep it slightly lower to prevent blowouts, and in winter, slightly higher to improve traction. It’s advisable to check monthly and also ensure the spare tire is at 3.0 bar. Developing this habit ensures safety, saves money, and reduces the risk of blowouts.
