The normal operating temperature of a car's coolant is between 90°C and 95°C. For most family cars, the normal operating temperature is around 95°C, while some high-performance cars or vehicles with higher thermal efficiency may operate at around 110°C. Cars with higher operating temperatures include BMW models, whose engines can even exceed 110°C under normal operation. Function of the cooling system: The vehicle's cooling system is not solely for heat dissipation but also helps maintain the engine within a normal operating temperature range. Engine oil temperature: If the oil temperature is too high, the oil will thin out, causing the oil film to break, which can lead to engine wear. If the oil temperature is too low, the oil will become too thick, preventing proper lubrication of necessary parts. Therefore, maintaining the right oil temperature is crucial. Avoid prolonged high-RPM driving: When using your car, try to avoid prolonged high-RPM driving, as this can cause the oil film to break, leading to abnormal engine wear. Engine oil also has a cooling function; if the engine is low on oil, it can easily overheat, resulting in cylinder scoring. Coolant replacement: The vehicle's coolant should be replaced every two years. When the coolant level is low, never use water as a substitute. Water contains impurities that can form scale at high temperatures, which can clog the engine's water passages and cooling system pipes.
