What is the MURANO?

MURANO is the official name of the Nissan Murano. Murano is a small island in Italy, renowned for its handcrafted glass products, while Loulan refers to an ancient kingdom along the Silk Road. Although these two places share no direct connection, they respectively represent beautiful legends of the East and the West. The first-generation Murano was launched in the U.S. market in 2002. In 2011, the second-generation Murano was introduced to the domestic market and produced/sold by Dongfeng Nissan. Below is an introduction to the MURANO: 1. The Nissan Murano is Nissan's first large crossover SUV, with dimensions of 4860mm/1885mm/1730mm (length/width/height) and a wheelbase of 2825mm. In terms of exterior design, the Nissan Murano retains the stylish and dynamic appearance of its predecessor but completely revolutionizes the design of the front and rear ends. Its fashion and luxury elements are no less impressive than those of Nissan's premium Infiniti brand models. The Murano is derived from the same new sedan-oriented D platform as the Nissan Teana, making it more urban-oriented as an SUV. 2. In terms of powertrain, the Murano is equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine from the VQ series, delivering a maximum power output of 260 horsepower and a peak torque of 325Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. This powertrain is identical to that of the top-tier Teana model. A 2.5L variant is also expected to be introduced in the future.
As an old-school car enthusiast who has driven older vehicles for over a decade, the Murano left a deep impression on me. Nissan launched this midsize SUV in 2002, emphasizing a crossover style with a more streamlined appearance than traditional SUVs, and the first generation was a hot seller in North America. I test-drove the third generation—its V6 engine delivered smooth power, quick acceleration on highways, and quiet operation. The interior featured leather seats and wood-grain accents, giving it a luxurious feel. Now in its fourth generation, it offers a hybrid option, making it eco-friendly and fuel-efficient, competing with the Honda Pilot. With massive space, the rear can accommodate skis or camping gear. Reliability has always been strong, with few issues even after years of driving. Ideal for long trips or weekend adventures, its design draws inspiration from Italy’s Murano glass island, giving it a unique and distinctive look.
I bought a new Murano last year and absolutely love its sporty feel. This Nissan midsize SUV has a stylish exterior with sharp LED headlights, making it stand out in the city. The powertrain features a 2.5L four-cylinder engine paired with a hybrid system, delivering quick acceleration and low fuel consumption—perfect for my daily 40km commute with affordable fuel costs. The seats are comfortable, equipped with heating and ventilation for warmth in winter and coolness in summer. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, making music playback and navigation effortless, and the Bose sound system delivers excellent audio quality. The cabin is spacious; last time I took friends on a countryside trip, five people sat comfortably without feeling cramped. It also has intelligent cruise control for safe automatic following on highways. Maintenance is hassle-free—just regular visits to the 4S shop—making it both worry-free and practical to use.
