With the engine turned off, press and hold the trip odometer reset button located below the tachometer. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then release the trip odometer reset button. The display will show the "SERVICE" indicator. Pull out the minute button on the clock and turn it to the right. The odometer display will appear on the screen. After turning off the engine, the reset message will appear. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and the "SERVICE" indicator will disappear.

Hey, resetting the Chevy maintenance light is actually quite simple—I've done it several times myself. The most common method involves using the steering wheel buttons: First, completely turn off the car and ensure the key is removed. Then, press and hold the Trip or Odo button on the dashboard without releasing it. Next, insert the key and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine). Keep holding the button for 5-10 seconds until the maintenance light flashes and disappears—that’s it! For example, this is how I reset it on my Chevy Cruze, but it’s best to check the specific model’s manual, as procedures may vary slightly by year. If the light doesn’t go off, the button might not be pressed firmly enough, or there could be a minor electrical issue—it’s wise to keep a wrench handy to clean the contact points. Developing a regular maintenance habit is crucial; otherwise, the flashing light can distract your driving vision and shorten the vehicle’s lifespan. Overall, this task saves time and effort, eliminating frequent trips to the repair shop.

As someone who frequently works on cars, I advise Chevy owners not to rush for tools—most maintenance light resets can be done manually: After turning off and disconnecting the car's power, press and hold the reset button on the dashboard, turn the ignition to the ACC position, wait about 10 seconds, and release the button once the light goes off. Steps may vary slightly for different models like the Malibu or Equinox, so check the owner's manual to confirm. In practice, also inspect if the button is worn or dirty—occasional cleaning of the contact surface suffices. This method doesn't harm the car and is far more convenient than using a diagnostic tool. The maintenance light reminds you to change the oil or get a check-up; reset it promptly to avoid engine overheating or increased fuel consumption, ensuring safer and smoother driving. Regular maintenance extends component lifespan and saves on major repair costs.

What Causes Engine Roaring Without Acceleration When Pressing Hard on the Accelerator?

The reasons for engine roaring without acceleration when pressing hard on the accelerator are: 1. Ignition system failure: When spark plugs age or fail, pressing hard on the accelerator may cause fuel to fail to ignite, resulting in cylinder misfire; 2. Fuel system failure leading to low pressure, insufficient fuel injection can cause weak engine acceleration; 3. Excessive engine carbon deposits leading to poor fuel atomization; 4. Damaged catalytic converter or turbocharger, in which case it is necessary to go to a repair facility for computer diagnosis and troubleshooting. The accelerator, also known as the "throttle," refers to the control device that regulates engine power (thrust). In piston aircraft engines, the throttle controls the carburetor's throttle opening to regulate cylinder filling, thereby determining the engine's output power.
