The method for ETC reactivation is: 1. Install the ETC device in the designated position and secure it properly; 2. Download the ETC Assistant app on your mobile device, register and log in, then click on OBU activation on the main interface; 3. Quickly insert and remove the ETC card twice or press the button on the top of the OBU device, the corresponding indicator light will turn on indicating activation; 4. Click the start activation button, after the mobile device and ETC device successfully connect, you will be prompted to upload photos of the ETC device inside and outside the vehicle and submit for review; 5. Once approved, click on OBU activation again, connect the OBU with the mobile device, and upon successful connection, you will be prompted that activation is complete.
Recently, I also encountered a situation where my ETC needed reactivation. After replacing the windshield last time, the device became loose. I spent quite a while trying to fix it myself and realized I first needed to check if the anti-tamper switch on the back of the device had popped out. If it had popped out, the process was straightforward: turn on the phone's Bluetooth and open the ETC device mini-program, then insert and remove the card three times to make it flash red. At this point, opening the mobile app would automatically search for the device, and I could follow the prompts to enter the license plate information for activation. However, it's important to note that if the license plate or owner information had been changed, I would need to go to the bank branch to sign a new agreement. The entire process took about ten minutes to complete. I deliberately did it at a service area just in case it failed, so I could ask the staff for help.
Reactivating ETC is actually not that complicated. Last time my device wasn't responding, I first found the mini-program or APP used during the initial setup in my phone. Remember to charge the device first to make sure it lights up, then select the reactivation option. The system will prompt you to turn on your phone's Bluetooth while quickly inserting and removing the ETC card several times. After the phone detects the device, upload the vehicle license photo as instructed and verify the license plate information. The key is to ensure stable internet connection - if stuck at any step, just exit and restart. It's recommended to prepare your ID card and the vehicle owner's phone number in advance, as verification codes might be needed. If you can't manage it yourself, going directly to the highway service point is the most hassle-free solution - they can get it done in just two minutes.
