What is the M position in an automatic transmission car?

In an automatic transmission car, the M gear simulates a manual transmission. When shifted into M gear, it switches to manual mode. While driving, you can shift from D gear to M gear, and vice versa. The M gear can be used for overtaking; after pushing into M gear, pulling it back once gives the vehicle greater traction for overtaking, after which you can shift back to D gear. The M gear is also useful when going up or down steep slopes. When ascending, placing the gear in M position provides stronger power to ensure successful climbing. When descending, using M gear helps control speed through engine braking, preventing brake overheating and thermal fade.
