Geely Xingyue's launch mode is: the launch start configuration equipped in the Xingyue. In terms of configuration: The Geely Xingyue is fully equipped, including launch mode, AGS intelligent variable intake grille, DP-EPS electronic steering, rear multi-link independent suspension, and many other cross-level configurations. In terms of power: The Geely Xingyue is equipped with a 2.0T engine identical to that of the Volvo XC90, paired with an 8AT automatic manual transmission. The maximum horsepower is estimated to reach 254 hp, and it is equipped with a Volvo-branded real-time four-wheel drive system. It features BorgWarner's fifth-generation electro-hydraulic four-wheel drive system, which is more lightweight in construction and can intelligently switch between four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive.

Geely Xingyue's launch mode is essentially a rapid acceleration feature that helps you go from zero to 100 km/h in no time. I often use this during test drives—after starting the engine, switch to Sport mode, press and hold the brake while flooring the accelerator. The system preloads power to minimize transmission lag, and when you release the brake, the car zooms forward with a strong kick of acceleration. It’s similar to a sports car’s launch control, but Geely has adapted it for a family-friendly SUV, which is thoughtful. The key benefit is vehicle protection—by limiting engine output, it reduces wear and tear, letting you drive with confidence. Avoid frequent use, though, as it increases fuel consumption and component strain. But on open roads or when showing off (safely first!), it’s a fun trick. BMW M offers a comparable feature, but the Xingyue delivers it at a more affordable price.

I've tried the launch control mode in my Xingyue, and the feeling was absolutely exhilarating. With the sport mode on, pressing both the brake and throttle, the engine roared to life, and as soon as I released the brake, the car shot forward with an acceleration that was startlingly fast, hitting 0-100 km/h in just a few seconds. It really adds some excitement to daily driving, especially when having a friendly race with friends during outings. However, it's important to be mindful of road conditions: never use it on slippery surfaces, as it can lead to dangerous skidding. The engine bears a heavy load and can easily overheat, so I always park and let it rest for a few minutes afterward, taking the opportunity to check the tire wear. For maintenance, it's better to perform system calibration every six months. Tesla has a similar feature, but the Xingyue is simpler and quicker to get the hang of.

The launch mode on the Xingyue is a start-up acceleration assistant, and I recommend understanding its mechanism before driving. By pressing the brake while fully depressing the accelerator, the electronic system controls the power output, instantly enhancing performance and reducing delay. Ensure the road is dry and flat before use, and avoid pedestrians and vehicles. Beginners should not rush to try it. Excessive use can damage the transmission and engine, and regular maintenance of fluids can extend their lifespan. This feature makes driving more efficient and safe, and a brief cooldown when parked is sufficient.

Are Electric Two-Wheeled Motorcycles Classified as Motor Vehicles or Non-Motor Vehicles?

They are classified as motor vehicles. Below are the relevant explanations: How vehicle types are defined: Regulations on vehicle types: In the "Traffic Law," there are clear stipulations that electric-assisted bicycles belong to non-motor vehicles; however, there are no explicit regulations for fuel-assisted bicycles. According to the standards of the "Safety Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation (GB7258—2004)," fuel-assisted bicycles should be classified as light motorcycles. The definition of light motorcycles: The "Safety Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation (GB7258—2012)" defines "light motorcycles" as: "Regardless of the driving method, with a maximum speed not exceeding 50 kilometers per hour, and if an internal combustion engine is used, the displacement does not exceed 50 milliliters for two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicles." According to this regulation, many fuel-assisted bicycles exceed 50 kilometers per hour, so these vehicles cannot be classified as light motorcycles and indeed belong to the category of motor vehicles. Since they are classified as motor vehicles, according to the "Road Traffic Safety Law," drivers should register and license the vehicle with the traffic management department, obtain a driver's license, and drive on motor vehicle lanes. Violations should also be penalized as motor vehicle-assisted bicycles.
