There are three stages in the history of domestic automobiles. The first stage: From the birth of China's automobile industry in 1953 to before the reform and opening-up in 1978. The foundation for the development of the automobile industry was initially laid. Automobile products emerged from scratch. The second stage: From 1978 to the end of the 20th century. China's automobile industry achieved significant progress, forming a complete industrial system. It began comprehensive development from trucks to sedans. This stage marked the transition period of China's automobile industry from a planned economy to a market economy. The characteristic of this period was the rapid development of commercial vehicles, with the product series gradually becoming complete and production capacity steadily increasing. A certain level of independent development capability was attained. The shortcomings in heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles were addressed. The third stage: After entering the 21st century, following China's accession to the WTO, the automobile industry entered a phase of rapid expansion in market size and production scale, fully integrating into the global automobile industry system.
