The function of the Jimny's track bar is to serve as a reinforcement device that controls the lateral thrust of the rear axle. Concept of the track bar: One end of the track bar is fixed to the solid axle (left side), and the other end is fixed to the frame (right side), which helps to suppress lateral sway between the frame (body) and the rear axle. Function of the track bar: Since a solid axle connected with coil springs and multi-links generally has a longer longitudinal travel, it is prone to sway during driving. On the other hand, a multi-link solid axle suspension typically has good longitudinal control but lacks lateral sway control, hence the need for an additional track bar. This transverse track bar can limit the lateral displacement of the solid axle, enhance the strength of the suspension system, and prevent excessive body tilt when the vehicle is cornering.
