The function of the ignition system: To generate an electric spark with sufficient energy between the two electrodes of the spark plug in accordance with the working sequence of the cylinders. When a gasoline engine approaches the top dead center during compression, the combustible mixture is ignited by the spark plug, thereby burning and performing external work. For this reason, spark plugs are installed in the combustion chambers of gasoline engines. The voltage required for the spark plug electrodes to break down and produce a spark is called the breakdown voltage. The secondary voltage generated by the ignition system must be higher than the breakdown voltage to make the spark plug spark. The main types of spark plugs include: standard spark plugs, insulator projection spark plugs, electrode spark plugs, seat-type spark plugs, pole-type spark plugs, and surface-jump spark plugs.

The ignition system acts like a car engine's lighter, responsible for generating an electric spark in the cylinder to ignite the mixture of gasoline and air, ensuring smooth engine startup and operation. As a long-time car owner, I understand its importance: if the spark plugs wear out or the ignition coils fail, the car may shake, struggle to accelerate, or even have difficulty starting in cold weather. This not only affects driving enjoyment but can also increase fuel consumption and emissions. During routine maintenance, I regularly check the spark plug gap and cleanliness, replacing them promptly if any abnormalities are detected to avoid breakdowns. An efficient ignition system ensures more complete combustion, improving fuel efficiency and saving a significant amount on gas money.

The ignition system is the core component that ensures the engine fires up, generating sparks to ignite the fuel and get the car moving. As a young person who frequently goes on road trips, I must remind everyone: if the ignition system malfunctions—whether due to carbon buildup on the spark plugs or wiring issues—you might struggle to start the car or feel a lack of engine power on the highway. Repairs for this can be costly, which is why I've learned to DIY spark plug replacements to keep expenses under control. Maintaining its health ensures more efficient combustion, reduces exhaust emissions, and makes it more environmentally friendly.

What to Do When a Car Rolls Over?

Solutions for when a car rolls over: 1. Stay calm and avoid making fatal mistakes due to excessive panic; 2. Immediately turn off the engine to prevent hazards such as fire or explosion; 3. Adjust your position, unbuckle the seatbelt, and lower your body. If you cannot open the door, you can choose to break the side window to escape. When striking the side window, aim for the edges of the glass rather than the center; 4. After escaping, do not rush out of the car recklessly. First, observe the surroundings and ensure it is safe before exiting, especially on highways. Make sure to move outside the guardrail and stay as far away from the accident scene as possible to ensure your safety and avoid secondary accidents.

How to Use the Manual Mode in a Tiptronic Transmission?

The method of using the manual mode in a tiptronic transmission is: To switch to manual mode, simply shift the gear lever to the M position. In manual mode, you can shift gears up or down by moving the shift lever accordingly, and the gear changes can be performed while the vehicle is in motion without the need to depress the clutch or brake. A tiptronic transmission combines the manual and automatic shifting modes of a car. The manual mode allows drivers to freely adjust gears and engine speed, providing a thrilling driving experience with a strong sense of sportiness and driving pleasure. Essentially, a tiptronic transmission is still a type of automatic transmission that simulates the operation of a manual transmission through an electronic control system. Its introduction offers drivers greater operational freedom, allowing them to choose the most suitable gear and shifting timing as they see fit.

Can You Shift from D to S Gear While Driving an Automatic Car?

Automatic cars can shift from D to S gear while driving without the need to press the brake or come to a stop. The D gear is the drive gear, where the vehicle prioritizes comfort and fuel efficiency. The S gear is the sport mode, which focuses on high performance. When shifted into S gear, the transmission delays upshifting to allow the engine to deliver greater power. Situations where S gear is not suitable include: 1. High-speed driving is not ideal for S gear, as it is designed to downshift for acceleration, leading to mismatched speed and RPM, increased noise, and higher fuel consumption; 2. Coasting is not recommended in S gear, as it can cause significant wear and tear on the transmission in a short period.
