What is the function of sealing oil?

For hydrogen-cooled generators, sealing rings are installed at both ends to prevent hydrogen leakage. The sealing oil system serves to supply oil to these sealing rings while simultaneously separating hydrogen, air, and moisture from the oil, thereby purifying it. Operation and maintenance methods: 1. Oil temperature and pressure: Activate the water side of the sealing oil cooler to maintain oil temperature between 35°C and 49°C. As the generator gas pressure increases, ensure the balance valve and differential pressure valve function properly; the outlet pressure of the hydrogen-side oil pump should normally not be lower than 0.6MPa. 2. Check the generator foam elimination tank and liquid level detection for oil presence: Monitor the differential pressure of the air-hydrogen side sealing oil filter. If the automatic oil discharge and replenishment of the sealing oil tank fails, manually adjust it. When hydrogen pressure drops below 0.1MPa and the sealing oil tank discharge is obstructed, use the hydrogen-side oil pump outlet discharge method. 3. If the balance valve adjustment fails: Switch to manual adjustment. When the oil-hydrogen differential pressure drops to 0.056MPa, the high-pressure sealing standby oil will automatically engage to maintain the oil-hydrogen differential pressure at 0.056MPa.
The role of sealing oil in a car engine is truly significant. After driving for so many years, I've come to understand that it's not just about lubricating metal parts. Primarily, it forms a thin film that seals the gap between the piston rings and cylinder walls, preventing combustion gases from leaking into the crankcase, thereby maintaining compression pressure and ensuring the engine runs smoother and more powerfully. If the sealing effect is poor, the internal pressure of the engine can become unbalanced, leading to oil leaks, reduced power, or even overheating and malfunctions. I once had an incident where my car suddenly started smoking, and upon inspection, it was found that the oil had aged and lost its sealing effectiveness. Fortunately, I replaced the oil in time, avoiding the safety hazard of a major engine overhaul. I regularly check the condition of the engine oil; if the color turns black or the viscosity changes, it indicates that the sealing performance is deteriorating, and immediate action is necessary. Don't underestimate this small amount of oil—it also helps cool components and clean deposits. Proper maintenance can prevent unexpected issues. Safe driving relies heavily on it.
