What is the function of ATF oil?

In addition to lubricating and cooling the planetary gear set, the primary function of ATF oil is to transmit power. Precautions when refilling: Different types of automatic transmission fluids cannot be mixed, as they vary in flow rate, density, dynamic and static friction properties, and expansion coefficients. Some manufacturers develop specific transmission fluids tailored to the characteristics of their AT transmissions. It is recommended that car owners replace or purchase the corresponding type at authorized 4S shops rather than switching to other types on their own. CVT transmission fluid: CVT transmission fluid is similar in nature to ATF oil but is a specialized fluid. Since CVT transmissions use unique steel chain drives, parameters such as fluid flow rate, friction properties, and expansion coefficients differ, making ATF oil unsuitable as a substitute. Comparatively, CVT fluid is thinner than ATF oil and must also provide a certain degree of damping friction to prevent the drive chain from slipping.
