The function of a differential is to meet the requirement of different rotational speeds of the wheels on both sides when the car is turning. The differential mainly consists of left and right axle gears, two planetary gears, and a gear carrier. Its purpose is to allow the left and right wheels to roll at different speeds when the car is turning or driving on uneven road surfaces, ensuring that both driving wheels perform pure rolling motion. The classification of differentials is as follows: 1. Gear-type differential. Due to its structure, this differential distributes equal torque to the left and right wheels. This torque-equalizing characteristic meets the needs of normal driving on good road surfaces, but it severely affects the car's passability when driving on bad roads. 2. Anti-slip differential. When one driving wheel slips on a bad road, it can transfer torque to the driving wheel on a good road, utilizing the adhesion of this driving wheel to generate sufficient driving force. 3. Double-worm differential. Its characteristic is that two meshing worms are inclinedly installed in the rotor, with the ends of the two worm shafts connected to the output shafts on both sides. The connection can be made via gears or universal joints. The ring gear is installed on the rotor, and the whole assembly is fixed to the housing by bearings. The power source is input from the ring gear, and the output shafts on both sides deliver the power.
