The front panel in the car is called the center console. It serves as the carrier for installing the instrument panel, air conditioning and audio panels, as well as storage compartments, airbags and other devices. It also concentrates most of the control buttons apart from driving. The leftmost part in front of the steering wheel is the instrument panel, which can display a lot of useful information. For example, the basic car odometer, speedometer, tachometer, and the vehicle dashboard indicators including daily indicator lights, warning lights and fault indicator lights. The daily indicator lights are the most common ones we encounter regularly. Common ones include high beam, low beam, seatbelt unfastened indicator, turn signal, parking brake indicator. The function of these indicator lights is to remind us of the switching of various vehicle functions. Warning lights are used to notify the driver of the vehicle's condition. They are generally used to indicate the storage level of each fluid. When the fluid level is critically low, the vehicle will display warning lights on the instrument panel, usually in orange or red. Common ones include fuel indicator, engine oil indicator and coolant indicator. These warning lights can only be eliminated by timely replenishing the corresponding fluid. The function of the fault indicator is to notify the driver of the current fault location of the vehicle. When seeing this indicator light, we cannot take it lightly. We should promptly go to the repair shop to check the vehicle. Common fault indicators include engine fault light, battery fault light and airbag fault light. In the middle front of the car, there is a multimedia control area, below which is an air conditioning control area. The front passenger side usually has a glove box for storing items. Generally, there is a large screen in the multimedia control area that can be used for navigation, listening to music, playing videos, etc. The lower control area can control temperature adjustment, air volume adjustment, and switching between internal and external circulation. The design of the center console is equally important. Designers need to consider factors such as practicality, aesthetics, and operability when designing the center console. Because there are many functional buttons on the center console that need to be operated while driving, a good design can allow the driver to operate without affecting driving safety, while a poor design will reduce the driver's operational convenience and may even affect driving safety.

I've been driving for over a decade, and that front area inside the car is called the dashboard. It's not just for displaying instruments like speed and RPM. While driving, I can see navigation instructions, fuel consumption information here, and sometimes even place my phone or small items. You know what? This panel also has airbags hidden inside that deploy to protect occupants in case of a collision. I often need to wipe it clean because too much dust accumulation can obstruct visibility, especially during long drives when I need to keep a close eye on it. If the car gets old, the dashboard might develop strange noises, reminding me to visit the repair shop. All in all, the dashboard plays a crucial role in driving – don't neglect its maintenance.

In my eyes, the front console is mainly a combination of the dashboard and the center console. Nowadays, new car models feature large touchscreen controls, allowing you to adjust music, turn on the air conditioning, and connect to Bluetooth like operating a tablet. Personally, I really like this design and find it much more convenient than the old-fashioned buttons. However, sometimes when driving on the highway, the screen can be too bright and glaring, so I have to dim it or apply an anti-glare film. When modifying my car, I also added a phone mount on top, making it more convenient to use GPS navigation. But remember not to place anything too heavy, as blocking the air vents can disrupt the temperature balance inside the car and reduce the effectiveness of the air conditioning.

I often take my kids out, and the area in front of the car called the dashboard is quite practical for storing small items like toys or snack boxes. Safety first, though—it's important to remind everyone not to place sharp objects there to avoid accidents if the airbag deploys. When cleaning, I use a damp cloth to wipe it gently, preventing any residual liquid from seeping in and damaging the electronic components. Some cars have different materials for this area, such as leather or plastic, so just choose a car based on your preference.
