What is the equivalent of Euro 4 emission standard in China's national standards?

Euro 4 emission standard is equivalent to China's National 4 standard. China's automotive emission standards differ from European standards. China's national standards are formulated based on the country's specific conditions, while European standards are commonly adopted by European Union member states. For vehicles meeting environmental protection standards, the government issues graded emission standard labels in two main colors, yellow and green, to facilitate energy-saving and emission-reduction inspections as well as regular environmental checks on vehicles. China's automotive emission standards include National 1, National 2, National 3, National 4, National 5, and National 6. Compared to the current National 5 standard, the National 6 standard represents a 40% to 50% improvement in emission requirements based on National 5.
I've encountered this issue quite a few times. Euro 4 is actually the European fourth-generation emission standard, which corresponds to the transition period between China's National III and National IV standards. Back in 2007 when National III was just being implemented, it was essentially modified based on Euro III. But by 2011 when National IV was fully implemented, the technology had basically caught up with Euro IV standards. However, you need to be careful during vehicle inspections - some places enforce strict regulations, especially in big cities, where imported Euro 4 vehicles might be directly classified as National III, which can cause issues during annual inspections. Last time, my neighbor's imported old Mercedes had to make extra trips to the testing station because of this.
