I drive the GAC Trumpchi GS7 with a 1.8T turbocharged engine, and daily driving is very smooth. In the city, the start is gentle without any noticeable lag; on the highway, the acceleration is strong, making overtaking easy. Fuel consumption is well-controlled, around 7.5 liters per 100 km on the highway, rising to about 11 liters in congested city traffic. The engine noise is minimal, ensuring comfort on long drives. Maintenance is straightforward, requiring only a full synthetic oil change every 5,000 km, and it's recommended to avoid frequent hard acceleration to protect the turbo. This engine is independently developed by GAC, and after several years of use, it hasn’t had any major issues—reliable and practical. If you frequently drive uphill or carry heavy loads, the 2.0T version is recommended for stronger power. Overall, it’s more than adequate for a family SUV, providing peace of mind.

The GS7 is equipped with 1.8T and 2.0T turbocharged engines, with significant differences in performance parameters. The 1.8T engine delivers 188 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque, suitable for smooth driving. The 2.0T engine shows a noticeable power increase, with 252 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, providing ample explosive force when fully loaded. Structurally, it utilizes direct fuel injection technology for high combustion efficiency. Based on owner feedback, common minor issues are rare, such as simple handling of aging spark plugs. Maintenance recommendations include cleaning the intake system every 10,000 kilometers to avoid clogging and using 5W-30 grade oil for optimal turbo performance. The mid-range acceleration is brisk, and high-speed stability is commendable. This engine strikes a good balance between power output and fuel economy, standing out among its peers.

The 2.0T engine in the GS7 delivers direct power output with rapid acceleration and strong push-back sensation. It handles mountain road climbs effortlessly with linear acceleration and no jerking, making for an exhilarating drive. The combined fuel consumption is around 9 liters, with good highway efficiency and stable long-distance performance. Engine noise control is excellent, keeping the cabin quiet. Paired with a smartly tuned transmission, gear shifts are smooth. Compared to other brands in the same class, this engine offers reliable performance and low maintenance costs, making it a great value.
