The Shadow Leopard is equipped with a 1.5TGDI engine. This engine is developed independently by the GAC Trumpchi brand. Below is detailed information about automotive engines: Overview: An automotive engine is the device that provides power to a vehicle, determining its performance, fuel efficiency, stability, and environmental friendliness. Depending on the power source, automotive engines can be categorized into diesel engines, gasoline engines, electric motors for electric vehicles, and hybrid systems, among others. Others: Common gasoline and diesel engines are both types of reciprocating piston internal combustion engines, capable of converting the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy for piston movement and delivering power output. Gasoline engines feature high rotational speeds, lightweight construction, low noise levels, easy starting, and lower manufacturing costs. Diesel engines have higher compression ratios, superior thermal efficiency, and better fuel economy and emission performance compared to gasoline engines.
I drive the GAC Trumpchi Shadow Leopard, equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, model 4A15J2, independently developed by GAC. It delivers ample power in daily driving, with quick acceleration from a standstill and effortless overtaking. Although the engine noise is a bit loud during rapid acceleration, it's completely acceptable under normal driving conditions. Fuel consumption is well-controlled, averaging 7-8 liters in the city and dropping to around 6 liters on the highway. Maintenance is also hassle-free, as regular full synthetic oil is sufficient. The recently released hybrid version uses a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine, model 4B20J1, paired with an electric motor for better fuel efficiency, but the pure gasoline version is already more than enough for my daily commute. Overall, this engine is quite impressive for a car in the 100,000-yuan price range.
