Most vehicles produced in 2013 comply with the China IV emission standard, while some imported models meet the China V standard. For trucks, the majority adhere to China III, with a minority meeting China IV. The China IV standard, titled 'Limits and Measurement Methods for Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (China III, IV Stages)', is partially equivalent to Euro IV and was implemented in 2010. China's vehicle emission standards have progressed step by step: On July 1, 2004, the China II emission standard was implemented nationwide. On December 30, 2005, Beijing adopted the China III standard, allowing vehicles already on the market meeting China III to delay OBD installation for one year. July 1, 2007, saw the nationwide implementation of China IV. On January 1, 2008, China IV fuel became available in Beijing. By July 1, 2013, 19 regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Urumqi, and Lanzhou strictly enforced China IV. Starting January 1, 2014, China IV became fully mandatory nationwide. The China III and IV standards refer to Euro III and China IV vehicle emission standards respectively. Compared with China II, China III further reduced pollutant emission limits.
