What is the emission level of the Volkswagen Bora?

FAW-Volkswagen Bora 2013 model meets the China IV emission standard. Automobile emission standards regulate the content of harmful gases such as CO (carbon monoxide), HC+NOx (hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides), and PM (particulates, soot) emitted from vehicle exhaust. Starting from January 1, 2004, Beijing upgraded its vehicle emission standards from Euro I to Euro II, and by 2008, officially implemented the Euro III standard. The Volkswagen Bora is equipped with two types of engines: one is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The other is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine has a maximum power output of 83 kW, a maximum torque of 145 Nm, with the maximum power achieved at 6000 rpm and the maximum torque at 3900 rpm. This engine features multi-point fuel injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. The 1.4-liter turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power of 110 kW and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, with the maximum power achieved between 5000 to 6000 rpm and the maximum torque between 1750 to 3000 rpm. This engine is equipped with direct fuel injection technology and also uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block.
I usually pay close attention to car performance. The Volkswagen Bora is quite common in China, with most models starting with a 1.5-liter engine, such as the 1.5 TSI variant, which delivers smooth power output while being fuel-efficient. In terms of emission standards, the newer versions now meet China 6 standards, offering decent overall environmental performance with CO₂ emissions ranging approximately between 120 to 140 grams per kilometer. I've driven a friend's Bora and found it responsive in acceleration, making it easy to navigate through city traffic without frequent congestion. Maintenance is straightforward—just replacing the air filter, for instance. Opting for the low-emission version can save on fuel costs in the long run while being eco-friendly. Overall, as a family car, the Bora strikes a good balance between engine performance and emission setup, making it worth considering for a test drive.
