What is the difference in sound between S-type mufflers and M-type mufflers?

S-type mufflers and M-type mufflers are both types of car exhaust systems, differing in their methods of handling exhaust gases. Car S-type muffler: Features two expansions, with the S-shaped bend clearly visible in its design. Its clever construction avoids the issue of oversized mufflers that are difficult to install. A high-quality S-type muffler modification can increase horsepower by more than 7%, and the exhaust sound takes on a race-car-like quality. However, it may result in some loss of low-end torque. The S-type muffler enhances torque at medium to low speeds, providing quicker acceleration, better hill-climbing power, and a deep exhaust note without sacrificing high-RPM horsepower. It primarily works by extending the formation of exhaust gases to boost performance. Car M-type muffler: Incorporates a valve within the backpressure muffler that automatically adjusts its opening based on the volume of airflow. At low speeds, the valve remains closed, maintaining sufficient backpressure to improve torque, thereby making the vehicle more powerful at low speeds. As speed increases, the airflow gradually rises, causing the valve to open progressively until it is fully open at high speeds, allowing exhaust to flow completely unobstructed. This results in smoother and more powerful driving performance.
