GLC is a mid-size SUV built on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class platform and is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz GLK; GLE is a mid-to-large-size SUV built on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class platform, previously known as the ML-Class, and belongs to the mid-to-large-size luxury SUV category. Therefore, the main differences between these two models are their body size, powertrain, and price. Below is an introduction to these two models: 1. Mercedes-Benz GLE: The Mercedes-Benz GLE is a mid-cycle update of the Mercedes-Benz ML, which is a mid-to-large-size SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, positioned above the GLK but below the G-Class and GL-Class. 2. Mercedes-Benz GLC: The Mercedes-Benz GLC can essentially be considered the coupe version of the GLK. The reason the Mercedes-Benz GLC was not introduced until 2016 is primarily because it was developed based on the new-generation GLK, which provides the GLC with more platform advantages, such as lighter weight, more modular components, etc., thereby reducing vehicle development costs.

Speaking from personal experience, the difference between the GLE and GLC mainly comes down to their noticeable size disparity. The GLE falls into the midsize-to-large SUV category, offering exceptionally spacious interiors. When I take my family on trips with it, three people can sit comfortably in the back without feeling cramped, and the trunk easily accommodates luggage and a stroller, making long journeys very comfortable. In contrast, the GLC is more compact, making parking in the city a breeze, though its interior space is somewhat smaller, with tighter legroom for rear passengers. It's fine for daily commutes but may feel insufficient for family use. The driving experience also differs: the GLE feels rock-solid on highways but can be cumbersome when turning in heavy traffic, while the GLC is nimble and agile, effortlessly navigating narrow alleys. In summary, choosing between them depends on your lifestyle needs: the GLE is better suited for larger families or frequent long-distance travel, whereas the GLC is more practical for solo living or commuting.

From a performance perspective, as a car enthusiast, I've test-driven both models. The GLE typically comes with a V6 engine, delivering strong power and fast acceleration. The experience of overtaking on the highway is top-notch, making it suitable for adventures or long-distance trips. However, the GLC mostly features a four-cylinder engine, offering higher fuel efficiency, which is more economical in stop-and-go city traffic. In terms of maintenance, the GLE costs significantly more in fuel expenses, while the GLC is more budget-friendly. Both are SUVs, but the GLC feels lighter and more agile, with no sluggishness in turns; the GLE boasts a stable chassis and superior comfort, excelling in off-road conditions. My recommendation is to choose based on driving habits: opt for the GLE if you enjoy the thrill of acceleration, while the GLC is sufficient for daily commuting and can save you some budget.

I prioritize price, with the GLE starting around 700,000 RMB and higher-end models costing even more; the GLC is just over 500,000 RMB, making it more affordable for entry-level buyers. The insurance for the GLE is significantly more expensive, and its fuel consumption is also higher, resulting in substantial long-term costs. I recommend budget-conscious buyers opt for the GLC—it saves money and meets needs, with slightly less space but sufficient for daily use. From an economic standpoint, unless you're pursuing luxury, the GLC offers better value.
