What is the difference between electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle license plates?

Electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle license plates differ in the first letter: the first letter of an electric vehicle license plate is D; the first letter of a hybrid vehicle license plate is F. Plug-in hybrid vehicles are different from regular hybrid vehicles. Plug-in hybrids have larger batteries that can be charged using an external power source, and they have a longer electric-only range with better fuel economy. Regular hybrid vehicles cannot charge their batteries using an external power source and have a shorter electric-only range. Pure electric vehicles rely entirely on electric motors for propulsion, with larger batteries and more powerful motors.
