First, press the foot brake with your foot, then shift the gear lever from neutral (N position) into reverse gear (R position). After shifting the gear lever, you can release the handbrake. Next, observe the intended reversing path through the rearview mirror. Gently lift the foot brake slightly, making sure to do so slowly. Once the path is clear, you can fully release the foot brake. The car will not move backward at this point. The driver needs to lightly press the accelerator while remaining ready to apply the foot brake at any time. After the car has reversed into the designated position, firmly press the foot brake. Then, engage the handbrake and shift the gear lever from reverse gear (R position) back to neutral (N position).
I just started learning to drive not long ago, and I remember being very nervous the first time I reversed. The correct method is to first ensure the car is started, press the brake pedal, and then shift the gear lever from P to R. At this point, don't release the brake; slowly release it, and the car will start to move backward. Use the rearview mirror and the reversing camera to check behind you. If you need to accelerate, lightly press the accelerator, but never press too hard to avoid hitting anything. When practicing, I found an open space and repeated the process a few times until I got the hang of it. The key is to observe the surroundings carefully and avoid distractions like looking at your phone or other things. Safety always comes first—if someone approaches, immediately press the brake to stop.
