What is the correct ignition timing angle?

The ignition timing is generally most correct between 8-10°. The adjustment method for ignition timing is as follows: 1. First, check the contact gap of the damaged distributor and adjust it if necessary. The normal contact gap is 0.35~0.45mm. 2. Manually rotate the engine to position the first cylinder piston at the top dead center of the compression stroke. The method involves removing the spark plug of the first cylinder, blocking the spark plug hole on the cylinder head with a finger, and turning the crankshaft. When atmospheric pressure is felt, slowly rotate the crankshaft to align the timing mark or pointer with the specified symbol. 3. Loosen the clamp plate fixing screw on the distributor housing, remove the distributor cap from the central high-voltage line, and position its end 3~4mm away from the cylinder block. Turn on the ignition switch, then rotate the disconnected distributor housing in its normal rotation direction to close the contacts, then reverse R. The rotating housing should reach the total high-voltage point. 4. Secure the distributor housing to the clamp plate with the fixing screw, put on the distributor cap, and reinstall the spark plug. 5. Ignite in the normal rotation direction, connect the high-voltage lines to the cylinders in the ignition order, and insert the high-voltage line of the first cylinder into the side electrode socket of the ignition. After adjustment, check again whether the ignition advance angle meets the requirements. If not, readjust and recheck until it complies.
