The Land Cruiser is commonly known as the Land Patrol. The Toyota Land Patrol is an imported ORV off-road vehicle produced by Toyota, with a production history spanning over 70 years, dating back to 1951. It is renowned for its strong off-road capabilities and durability. The new generation Land Cruiser Japanese version will offer five trim levels: GX, AX, VX, ZX, and GR-S. Among these, the ZX and GR-S trims provide options for a 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged diesel engine and a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged gasoline engine. Except for the GX trim, all gasoline-powered models feature a 7-seat layout, while diesel-powered models come with a 5-seat layout. The GX is the base model, equipped with 18-inch wheels, drive mode selection, TOYOTA SAFETY SENSE driver assistance system, panoramic imaging, auto-dimming rearview mirror, UV-protected front door green glass, leather steering wheel, rear air conditioning vents, fabric seats, auto-hold function, and more. The AX is the second-lowest trim, adding LED headlights, LED fog lights, independent zone automatic climate control, suede-like fabric seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, fingerprint start button, and other features compared to the GX. The VX is the mid-range model, featuring additional upgrades over the AX such as a driver anomaly response system, side steps, keyless entry, wood-trimmed leather steering wheel, leather seats, power-adjustable front and passenger seats, and power-adjustable third-row seats. The ZX is the second-highest trim, offering 20-inch wheels, adaptive high-beam system, power sunroof, power tailgate, active noise cancellation (gasoline models only), along with optional JBL sound system and rear entertainment system compared to the VX. The GR-S is the top-tier version, equipped with 18-inch matte gray wheels, power exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, GR-S exclusive exterior kit, and optional features like tire pressure warning and rear entertainment system.
Speaking of the Land Cruiser, we veteran drivers are used to calling it 'Lu Xun' or 'Land Cruiser'—that's what we've called it since I was young driving this vehicle. I remember back in the 1990s when I was doing transport runs on the Sichuan-Tibet line, the roads were full of old Land Cruisers with 'Land Cruiser' boldly written on the rear. Later, Toyota renamed it to 'Land Cruiser Prado,' but us old-timers who've driven it for years just can't switch. Nowadays, if you shout 'Lu Xun' at an off-road base, a whole bunch of vehicles will respond. The nickname is quite fitting—its chassis is as steady as a ship, and when off-roading, it cuts through waves like a cruiser. Though younger folks now call it 'LC' based on chassis numbers like LC200, old-school off-road enthusiasts still love the name 'Lu Xun' the most.
