At the opening ceremony of the Fifth Session of the 12th National People's Congress, Premier Li Keqiang pointed out in the government work report that the use of clean energy vehicles should be encouraged, and the China 6 standard fuel should be accelerated in key areas. The Director of the Atmospheric Environment Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, when interpreting the new China 6 vehicle emission standard, stated that from July 1, 2020, all light-duty vehicles sold and registered must meet the 6a limit requirements of the standard. From July 1, 2023, all light-duty vehicles sold and registered should meet the 6b limit requirements of this standard. Compared with advanced foreign countries, China's vehicle exhaust emission regulations started late and were at a lower level. Based on China's actual conditions, starting from the early 1980s, we adopted a phased implementation plan, mainly divided into three stages. It is widely known that the China 6 emission standard is about to be implemented. According to the national plan, the implementation of the China 6 emission standard will be divided into two phases: 'China 6A' and 'China 6B', corresponding to July 1, 2020, and July 1, 2023, respectively. It can be said that China 6A is like a transitional phase from China 5 to China 6.
