The bulb models for both the high and low beams of the Volkswagen Bora are H7. Classification of car headlight bulb models: Headlight bulb models are categorized into H1, H4, H7, 9005, and 9006. Methods to check the headlight bulb model: First, determine if the headlight is a combination of high and low beams. If it is, then the bulb model is H4. If the high and low beams are separate, you can refer to the vehicle's user manual that came with the car to find the specific bulb model. Besides these methods, you can also open the hood, remove the headlight protective cover, take out the bulb, and identify the headlight model by examining the bulb base and socket.

I recently replaced the bulbs in my old Bora. The 2019 model's halogen headlights use H7 for low beam and H15 for high beam. If you're buying bulbs yourself, don't mix them up as these two have different sockets. Remember to wear gloves when removing the lamp cover to avoid getting hand oil on the glass bulb, otherwise it may burn out quickly. The turn signal uses PY21W with offset pins, and the fog light is H8. After replacement, remember to adjust the headlight height, or oncoming drivers will keep flashing you.

My colleague's 2021 Bora has LED headlights, which require replacing the entire headlight assembly. The OEM part number is 5H2941002D, while the aftermarket compatible model depends on the decoding protocol. Last time he installed aftermarket lights, it triggered fault codes, which were later resolved by adding resistor wiring harnesses. The headlight modification shop owner mentioned that versions with daytime running lights have more complex wiring, making DIY installation nearly impossible.

According to the research, the Volkswagen Bora's headlights are divided into three stages: before 2016, halogen lights used H4 three-prong integrated bulbs (high and low beams in the same bulb); from 2017 to 2019, they were changed to H7+H15 split-type bulbs; after 2020, mid-to-high-end models use integrated LED lights. The trunk light is a 39mm double-ended bulb, and the license plate light is T10. When modifying the lights, be careful not to exceed 55W in power, otherwise the fuse may trip easily.
