What is the age requirement for vehicle transfer?

There is no age restriction for the recipient in vehicle transfer. Private vehicle transfer: Copy of the owner's ID card, copy of the vehicle license, copy of last year's insurance policy, etc. Company vehicle transfer: The owner needs to submit a copy of the organization code certificate, copy of the vehicle license, copy of last year's insurance policy, insurance application form, stamped policy terms, etc. Insurance transfer: After the vehicle transfer is completed at the DMV, the new owner should bring the transfer certificate, copy of the vehicle license, original insurance policy, their own ID card, and the original insurer's ID card to the original insurance company to fill out a transfer application form, then the endorsement transfer procedures can be completed.
As an experienced driver who has been driving for many years, I know that generally, you need to be at least 18 years old to transfer a vehicle. This is a basic legal requirement because you have to personally sign the agreement to confirm ownership during the transfer process, and minors under 18 don’t have this right. My first vehicle transfer was shortly after my 18th birthday when I bought a used car. The process was handled at the DMV: I brought my ID, vehicle registration, and the original title, filled out forms, had the car inspected, paid the taxes, and it was done. Being too young for a transfer might mean lacking experience, which could lead to accidents, so I recommend waiting until adulthood to handle it. The transfer process itself is quite simple—the key is to thoroughly check the car’s condition and avoid buying a problematic vehicle. It’s great for young people to learn to drive, but safety comes first—don’t rush. Additionally, some places allow minors to transfer a vehicle with parental accompaniment, but parents must sign on their behalf as full proxies. In my experience helping friends with transfers, I’ve rarely seen such cases—it’s still safer to wait until you’re more mature.
