C1 driver's license has a minimum age limit of 18 years old, with no upper age limit. However, applicants aged 70 or above must pass tests on memory, judgment, and reaction abilities. Vehicle types permitted with C1 license: The C1 driver's license allows driving small and micro passenger vehicles, light and micro cargo vehicles; light, small, and micro special-purpose vehicles; and small passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of 9 or fewer people. Vehicles not permitted with C1 license: Large buses, tractors, city buses, medium-sized buses, large trucks, regular three-wheeled motorcycles, regular two-wheeled motorcycles, light motorcycles, wheeled self-propelled machinery, trolleybuses, and trams. Additionally, the C1 license does not permit driving vehicles with more than 9 seats or trucks with a total length exceeding 6 meters.
I just got my C1 driver's license last year when I turned 18 and immediately signed up for it. The law requires you to be at least 18 years old to apply, as this is when your body and mind are mature enough to handle road situations safely. When registering, you need to bring your ID card to confirm your age and pass a medical exam checking vision, reaction time, etc., to ensure there are no major issues. I think the age requirement is quite reasonable—being too young leads to impulsive driving and higher accident risks. After getting the license, driving has been really convenient, allowing me to go on road trips with friends on weekends. The upper age limit for applying is 60; beyond that, you can still drive but can't newly apply, though the license remains valid indefinitely once obtained.
