What is M100 oil?

Fuel oil M100 is the main fuel oil specification for heavy oil exports by Russian oil companies. Fuel additives mainly have the following four functions: 1. Improve efficiency: Enhance combustion efficiency, save fuel, and reduce exhaust emissions. 2. Cleaning: Clean deposits in the fuel injector to keep the fuel system unobstructed and ensure normal engine power output. 3. Remove carbon deposits: Clean carbon deposits on the intake valve to eliminate faults such as reduced cylinder working pressure, incomplete combustion, and knocking caused by them. 4. Maintain cleanliness: Keep the engine clean and in optimal working condition for a long time, reduce vehicle maintenance costs and extend engine lifespan, and minimize environmental pollution from exhaust emissions.
As an ordinary driver, I think this might be a misunderstanding. I've been driving for over ten years, and the term M100 sounds like gasoline with an octane rating of 100—that high-octane fuel with excellent anti-knock properties, suitable for modified engines or sports cars, delivering much more powerful performance. But regular cars don't need it at all because it's significantly more expensive, and if the engine isn't designed for it, it can easily cause issues. I once tried using high-octane fuel, and my car ended up shaking, costing me thousands in repairs. So, I suggest first checking your vehicle's manual to confirm what fuel is suitable—92 or 95 octane is usually enough for daily use. Don’t mess around unnecessarily—save money and stay safe. After all, the golden rule of car maintenance is using the right stuff, not blindly following trends.
