GAC NIO New Energy Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. is the predecessor of Hycan Auto, established in April 2018, jointly held by GAC Group, GAC New Energy, NIO Capital, NIO Inc., and the founding team. Hycan is the brand name launched by GAC NIO in 2019. Hycan Auto currently has two models: the Hycan 007 and the Hycan Z03. The Hycan 007 is a pure electric mid-size SUV, produced based on GAC New Energy's GEP platform. Its body dimensions are 4879*1937*1680mm, with a 5-door, 5-seat SUV body structure. It has a top speed of 170km/h, equipped with a front-mounted single motor and matched with a single-speed transmission for electric vehicles. The front suspension is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a torsion beam non-independent suspension. The Hycan Z03 is a pure electric compact SUV from Hycan Auto, with body dimensions of 4602*1900*1645mm and a 5-door, 5-seat SUV body structure. It also features a front-mounted single motor and a single-speed transmission for electric vehicles. The front suspension is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a torsion beam non-independent suspension.
Last time at the auto show, I paid special attention to HYCAN Auto, which is quite an interesting new energy brand. It was originally established through a collaboration between NIO and GAC Group, and later received investment from Zhujiang Investment Management. I had the chance to test drive their HYCAN 007—the fastback design really catches the eye, and the triple-screen setup inside the cabin delivers strong tech vibes. With a range exceeding 600 km and L2+ autonomous driving features, it's quite impressive. The newer HYCAN Z03, launched last year, targets a younger demographic, featuring fold-flat rear seats that turn into a double bed—very practical. What stands out is their user co-creation model, frequently involving owners in product development, something rarely seen among traditional automakers. Their Guangzhou factory has ramped up production, and there are plans to build dedicated supercharging stations.
