What is Hill Start Assist?

Hill Start Assist is a system that applies braking force to all four wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward, effectively reducing the risk of rollback accidents when parking on a slope. Abbreviated as HAC, it is a function derived from the ESP system. Hill Start Assist allows the vehicle to maintain braking for a few seconds after the driver's right foot leaves the brake pedal when starting on a slope without using the handbrake, enabling the driver to easily transition their foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal to prevent rollback accidents. The methods to activate Hill Start Assist are: 1. Press the ESP button, and the car will automatically enable Hill Start Assist based on road conditions; 2. When starting on a slope: if the handbrake is not engaged, for manual transmission models, the gear lever is in a non-neutral position; for automatic transmission models, the gear lever is in a non-P position, Hill Start Assist will be activated; 3. When the car is stationary and the accelerator pedal is not pressed, Hill Start Assist will be activated.
