What is Gear Clashing?

Gear clashing refers to the phenomenon in car driving where the gear cannot be immediately shifted to the appropriate one for the current driving condition. A specific manifestation is when the car is decelerating in D gear, and as the speed drops to a relatively low level, pressing the accelerator to accelerate causes the car to suddenly lurch forward. At the same time, a dull sound can be heard from the transmission, indicating gear clashing. The causes of gear clashing include: 1. Issues with transmission oil—poor-quality transmission oil, due to its inferior high-temperature resistance, is more prone to forming sludge and residue compared to genuine transmission oil. Large amounts of sludge and residue can clog the transmission filter, increasing friction among transmission components and leading to malfunctions; 2. Fuel supply problems—blockages or poor flow in the fuel lines can result in inadequate lubrication of transmission components, leading to frequent issues and malfunctions; 3. Tire pressure problems—abnormal tire pressure can also contribute to gear clashing, which can be resolved by adjusting the tire pressure to the normal level.
