What is Car Suspension?
1 Answers
Car suspension refers to the entire support system composed of springs and shock absorbers between the body and the tires. The main function of the suspension is to transmit all forces and moments acting between the wheels and the body, such as supporting force, braking force, and driving force, while mitigating the impact loads transmitted from uneven road surfaces to the body, dampening the resulting vibrations, ensuring passenger comfort, and reducing the dynamic loads on cargo and the vehicle itself. The suspension elastically connects the frame to the wheels and is related to various performance aspects of the vehicle, making it one of the three most important assemblies in a car. Structurally, car suspension consists of simple components such as rods, tubes, and springs, but it is a very challenging assembly to perfect. This is because the suspension must meet both the vehicle's handling stability requirements and comfort requirements, which are often contradictory to each other.
