What is an STI car?

STI is not a car brand. To be precise, STI is an organization under Fuji Heavy Industries' Subaru automobile company, namely the Subaru Sports Modification Department. Generally, the models modified by this department are collectively referred to as STI, representing high-performance versions of civilian vehicles. Below is relevant information: 1. Usually, when people refer to STI, they mean the Impreza. Back then, Subaru used modified Imprezas to replace the older Legacy models to enhance competitiveness in the WRC, subsequently becoming strong contenders for championships in WRC events. The most famous and regarded as a modification classic among Impreza STIs is the 1998 22B, Subaru's only two-door sedan. 2. STI is affiliated with Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. in Japan, and its role is to support Subaru's participation in global motorsport events. Among these, the World Rally Championship (WRC) is STI's main stage. The competition-spec engines for Subaru WRX are all assembled and tuned by STI before being shipped to Subaru's racing headquarters in the UK.
I've been into car modifications for over a decade and know STI inside out. STI stands for Subaru Tecnica International, the high-performance division of Subaru. The most iconic model is undoubtedly the Subaru WRX STI, with its EJ20 turbocharged four-cylinder engine pumping out over 300 horsepower. Paired with the signature symmetrical all-wheel drive and DCCD differential, it corners like it's on rails. The sight of rally blue paint with gold wheels always gets my adrenaline pumping, especially the manual transmission version - the exhaust pops during gear shifts are downright addictive. When buying used, watch out for engine condition as many have been thrashed. The new generation now comes with a 2.4T, but old-school enthusiasts still swear by the EJ207's red-top engine.
